Oh my goodness…
May 17, 2008Last night was amazing…I can’t describe all of the feelings from being at the relay. I think I experienced two basic emotions…happiness and sadness. They came in waves but the overall mood was positive.
My mom wanted me to walk the survivor’s lap with her and I didn’t think it would be that emotional…but when there are a hundred other survivors on the track along with a member or two from their family and then the people on the sideline cheering them on the whole lap, yes, it did get to me. I’m so proud of my mom. I know I’ve said it before, and I’ll continue to say it, but she’s the strongest person I know. I can’t imagine going through what she went through. What she’s been through just in the last two-three years. She’s my hero. So are all the other people at the event. It was amazing how many people had survived…they came in all shapes and sizes…and ages…
Before going to Huntington, it was rainy and overcast…I was kind of dreading being outside but you wouldn’t believe how fast it cleared up just in time for the start of the walk.
I love working for Gap, Inc…you know why…? Every dollar an employee raises, they match that…I raised 300…so…I get 300 from Gap to match that bringing it to 600 total. Yay! My mom’s friend Cheryl raised 250 from the help of her co-workers. Our little team ended up doing pretty well. =)
